“Feria Sentí La Vida” – IAFA

Situation
The Costa Rican Institute on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (IAFA) fostered a social media community named IAFA – Sentí La Vida, dedicated to preventing drug and alcohol abuse among young individuals.
As part of its strategy, IAFA aimed to simultaneously promote the value of youth in society and encourage them to embrace their true selves.
Insight
There’s no being more creative and repressed than a teenager.
Idea
Create a talent fair for teenagers, by teenagers.
Solution
A four-stage project culminating in a talent fair held at a shopping center:
Stages 1 and 2: Registration and Voting
- Simultaneous processes: A website was established for participants to submit their talents and cast votes for their favorites.
- A call for participation was launched on social media and paid media channels.
- The top 6 vote-getters were selected to showcase their talents at the fair.
Stage 3: The Talent Showcase
4. Content creation around the 6 finalists and details of the fair, including timing and location. Live voting was emphasized.
Stage 4: The Final
5. The fair unfolded in a designated space where the 6 finalists displayed their talents. Interactive screens facilitated live voting to determine the winner.
Results: In a month-long endeavor:
- 90 registrations were secured.
- 1941 votes were cast.
- Facebook and Instagram achieved a reach of 1,769,194 unique young individuals, generating 24,549 interactions.
- The website recorded 15,504 sessions initiated by 8,695 users, with a bounce rate of 50%.
This innovative initiative not only engaged and empowered adolescents but also showcased IAFA’s commitment to fostering positive engagement and expression among the youth. The interactive approach effectively brought the community together, providing a platform for creative expression and self-discovery.
